Then I got out my paints and painted the picture over the oil pastels. That came out a lot better. Anyway, this is the best I could do.
The shadowing on the face comes out darker on digital from my camera, than in real life.
Here is what I tried to draw from. I didn't do the hands, so I left them off my painting.
Anyway Wanda, I tried.

Connie, after all that, this is terrific. I think you did a great job!
You can only do so much with Microsoft Paint. If you go to Corel..you can download a free trial for a few months and you have lots more you can do...I've only learned about 1/4 or even 1/8th of what you can do with it...but it's a lot more than MS paint...
I enjoyed seeing this..
You did a great job, your painting is certainly recognisable from the photo!
Oh my you did a wonderful job of the likeness of your son, came out great indeed.
Like Sandy had said you can only do so much in Microsoft Paint which is really limited..take her advice and try out the free trail of Corel, it is a wonderful program and you can do all sorts of things with it.
Thankyou Rosy, that is very nice of you to say. I will have to try the Corel when I get a new computer. I tried putting on the new Photoshop program on my computer and it did not work. So my computer can't handle much in the way of adding stuff on.
Thanks Akelamalu, I think I made the eyes different, but they kept getting bigger from the crayon oil when I tried to color them in.
I can definitely see a strong likeness...nice job, Connie! I can only echo what the others have said, Microsoft Paint is very limited although, if Photoshop didn't work on your computer, I'm not sure that the latest Corel Paintshop Photo Pro X3 would work either....it's quite a large program too. Good luck.
