Our 4th of July

Holding a sparkler "Wheeee"
On the 4th of July, most of the neighbors had a bicycle parade with their children. The children all decorated their bikes and rode down to the lake. I have put numerous pictures of the lake of my blog, so if you read it, you have seen the lake. My son wanted to go to the lake to watch all the kids. He has a bike, but does not want to learn how to ride it. He ran all the way to the lake. It was pretty hot that day. He came home about 7:30, he rode with the neighbor. He came in, his face beet red. He was so hot. My husband drove over to the lake earlier and asked him if he wanted to come home. He said no, that he was going to stay and get a ride with the neighbor. He thought that would only be a short while. I had told my husband to go get him, that he needed to come home and eat dinner, that was when my son walked into the door. He said he was tired and hot and didn't feel good. I made him go take a shower and cool off and eat and then take a little nap. We then got out the fireworks that we had bought at 9 PM. It still was not dark out but people were already setting them off. I took a couple of pictures, but I was busy playing with sparklers.

These kind were pretty good. They shot out sparks and fire a long time.
fireworks.
We then walked up the street, where we could see all around. Some people all around us were shooting of giant fireworks. The kind that go way up in the sky and burst big and round in all colors. They were shooting them off for 2 hours (some more), one after the other. Going off so fast, I don't know how they lit them so fast. They were just as good as the ones you see at Disney. How can they afford so many fireworks? The people at the lake were all setting off fireworks too. It was very festive. I didn't get pictures of those because my battery was low on my camera and I don't have a telephoto lens to get a great shot with my good camera.
I still can't get over how many giant fireworks were going off, all around the area. They were going off until around midnight.
The sack I bought cost $60 and it lasted about 30 minutes, maybe.

The next day we took off to go camping in Kentucky at Cumberland Lake. I will post pictures later of that trip.
